City Development

Another key function of KDA is the development of infrastructure. So far, KDA has developed planned Residential Area, Commercial Area, Industrial Estate, major Roads, important Markets, Bus-Terminal, Community Centre, Welfare Projects etc.

IMPLEMENTED PROJECTS

KDA has so far completed 40 projects involving an expenditure of Tk. 120.62 million since 1961.

a) Implemented Residential Projects

Khulna Development Authority has implemented 9 residential projects to satisfy the housing demand of the people of Khulna. The total developed land for this purpose is 265.40 Acre. The names of the projects are:

  • Sonadanga residential area (1st and 2nd phase)

  • Nirala Residential area

  • Mujgunni residential Area(1st and 2nd phase)

  • Daulatpur Residential Area

  • Shiromoni residential Area and

  • Sonadanga and Mirrerdanga Low-cost housing Area.

In total 2984 plots were developed and allotted to the people.

b) Implemented Road Projects

After the establishment of KDA in 1961 it has constructed a good number of roads within Khulna City. The estimated length of the major roads is about 20.67 km. The names of the roads are KDA Avenue, Majid Sarani, Jalil Sarani, Jabbar Sarani, Outer By-Pass (1st phase and 2nd phase), Mujgunni Main Road, Teliganti Road, Shiromoni Industrial Area Road. The roads are shown in the slide.

c) Industrial and Commercial Area

KDA developed an Industrial Estate at Shiromoni on about 511.29 acre land where new industries like i) Cable Industries ltd. ii) Jute Spinners, iii) BRTA Centre, iv) Jute Mills, v) Food Industries were established. Beside this, 60.74 acres of land was divided into 881 commercial plots, which were developed along the major implemented roads of KDA.
