Preparation of Structure
plan, Master plan and Detailed Area plan for Khulna
” was completed with funding from GOB source, by engaging
a local Consulting firm Acqua-Sheltech Consortium.
The project was started in July 1997 and completed
in June 2001. The Master Plan package is presented
in four volumes :
01. The Strategic Plan ,vol-I
02. The Structure Plan, vol-II
03. The Master Plan, vol-III
04. The Detailed Area Plan, vol-IV
The Master Plan package comprised of reports &
maps was approved by the government through gazette
notification in September, 2002. The package of the
plan addressed long term strategies and short term
implementation guidelines with spatial planning. The
map here shows the trend of urban growth in the Structure
Plan area (view
map).
The
plan along with a set of policy provides a long term
strategy for 20 years for the development of the greater
Khulna and a part of Jessore sub-region. The plan
covers an area of 451 sq. km. including 46 sq. km.
of Khulna City Corporation (KCC) area, Nowapara Municipal
area, 1961 KDA Master Plan area, almost entire area
of Phultala, Dighalia and Rupsha upazilas, part of
Abhoynagar, Dumuria and Fakirhat upazilas. The plan
provides planning guidelines, techniques, standards,
development control procedures and provisions of physical
and social services for Metro Khulna's planning and
development.The map here shows the Structure Plan
area including KCC, Khulna Metropoliton Area (KMA)
and 1961 Khulna Master Plan Area (KMPA) (view
